Following the recent changes to the Tier 2 (General) scheme, the Home Office now requires Tier 2 Migrants who are coming to work in the UK in certain professions to provide Criminal Record Certificates, in support of their application.
The Criminal Record Certificates will be required from any country in which they have been resident for 12 months or more. This will be required, whether they have lived there continuously or in total, in the past 10 years, while aged 18 or over.
The UK Home Office reportedly introduced this requirement to strengthen safeguards against those with a criminal history seeking to come to the UK.
The professions where it is necessary to provide these Criminal Record Certificates are generally those that may require the worker to deal with vulnerable people. Below is a full list of professions that require the provision of Criminal Record Certificates:
