Department of Home Affairs Operations lockdown

DHA lockdown

Our SA immigration clients must please take note of the following announcement by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).

The DHA has announced the following operational plan during the Covid-19 pandemic:

  • On Wednesday, 25 March 2020, the last submissions will be accepted. No applications for Critical Skills, General Work, and Business Related Visa applications will be accepted on this date for Temporary Residence Permits.
  • Thursday, 26 March 2020, will be the last day for collections. The opening times will be 10h00 to 15h00.
  • Any walk-ins that have their expiry from 25 March 2020 or during the lockdown will be turned away. The DHA will prioritise scheduled appointments and appeal related applications only.
  • The DHA has authourised all those holding visas expiring during the lockdown period commencing Wednesday, 25 March 2020, will not require a good cause letter when the DHA returns to full operations.

The re-opening of the VFS will be dependent on the DHA’s decision. They will communicate the decision on re-opening and the strategy for submissions.
