Permission to travel to SA for business purposes – Lockdown Level 1

Business purposes

Breytenbachs have now received confirmation from the SA authorities that even if travels from high-risk countries are for business purposes, permission must first be obtained from the SA authorities beforehand.

Once permission has been granted, the visa application itself can be lodged.  Kindly contact our SA immigration department for any queries in this regard.

Kindly also note that any foreign national arriving in South Africa has to adhere to the following:

  • The wearing of face masks – for all people except children under two years of age.  People who cannot wear face masks due to medical reasons have to present a letter from a registered medical practitioner confirming the reason why.
  • A negative Covid-19 test, not older than 72 days from the date of departure to SA.  This test must be done by a registered practitioner with his/her detail endorsed on this document.
  • Confirmation of travel insurance to cover a Covid-19 test as well as a ten-day quarantine period in SA.
  • If a person arrives in SA without being able to present a negative Covid-19 test, such a person will be placed in mandatory quarantine for a period of 10 days at his/her own cost.

For people traveling from SA, a negative Covid 19 test must also be provided, depending on the entry rules as issued by the country to which they travel.  SA nationals will not be permitted to travel to the relevant countries which are seen as high-risk countries by the SA Government, herewith the relevant list:
