Another UK Visa Success Story!

Breytenbachs is delighted to share the UK Visa success story of the Van Der Merwe family with our clients.

Theo and Vanessa van der Merwe is originally from a small town, Winterton, in the foothills of the Drakensberg mountain in South Africa.

In July 2013, they contacted Breytenbachs to assist them with settlement visas for the United Kingdom. The Appendix FM was introduced a year earlier. The newly introduced Appendix FM requirements made it much harder to apply for settlement visas than it was previously.

Vanessa is a British passport holder, and her husband is Theo, who is a South African. They had three children together, all under the age of 18 years old at the time. They had to meet strict requirements to qualify. Fortunately, they were able to meet all the Appendix FM requirements. The Breytenbachs office in Pretoria managed to secure the family with a UK Spouse visa and three child dependency visas.

The family relocated to the UK at the beginning of 2014.

Kayla van der Merwe rising to fame

Kayla van der Merwe, the daughter of Theo and Vanessa, is a keen swimmer and continued swimming in the UK.

She raised to fame in the UK, showing enormous swimming talent and tenacity. She won gold at the European Junior Championships and Silver and Bronze at the World Junior Championships in 2019. Kayla was also named Swim England’s Swimming Talent Athlete of 2019. She has since won multiple international medals and is now swimming for Great Britain’s Senior Swimming Team.

Breytenbachs is very proud to have played a small part in the Van der Merwe family’s UK visa success story. We wish Kayla van der Merwe all the best in her professional swimming career!
